December 12, 2021 - Amazingly unevolved color, still almost black at the core and purple almost to the rim. The nose is quite muted at first, but is dominated by dark forest berries (blackberries), some vanilla and some game/leather. Medium bodied, fine tannins and high acidity, but strangely low on fruit sweetness. Medium concentration, fine blackberry fruit on the mid palate, but the aftertaste is rather modest. As a whole, this is just unimpressive. It is clear that this producer has made a qualitatively long leap forward since the production of this wine. If anyone still has this wine in their cellar, drink up or keep for another ten years, but remember that it will most likely not become more interesting.

May 29, 2021 - Colour seriously developed, going towards the brawny-tawny. Not very promising nose, old. Has weight but tastes old. This is just past. I think as a matter of style it might not be made for long cellaring. But rather than blaming the wine, I have to blame myself for waiting so long. I remember I had a bottle of the 2001 many years ago and I thought it was good then. One more bottle left.

I read some of the other notes and the picture emerges that this is a "modern" wine which normally means they don't age well. I guess my note just confirms this.

    May 27, 2012 - Excès de sucrosité.
    Ecoeurant.
Ce n'est pas le premier Bandol 2001 qui tourne mal dans ma cave.

August 5, 2011 - Modern and concentrated bouquet with chocolate/cocoa. A bit dusty. Same on the palate together with juicy fruits and a lot of sweetness. Modern made and special, not unpleasant wine.
