December 4, 2022 - High acidity, but nice fruit - strawberries, red currant, cherries. Very nice.

December 5, 2020 - DWO - Włochy (On-line): Surprising colour almost like Nebbiolo or Pinot Noir. Need some time to open, cherries on the nose with secondary aromas of liqueur. Good acidity, light in structure, tannic.

September 11, 2020 - Bright, joyful, crisp Sicilian. A touch of animal scent that quickly disappears. Fresh minerals manage to come through the dominating tart acidity rendering a mix of red berry fruits. I am tempted to say this is a characteristic nerello mascalese (say it out loud to taste wine and words; love the sound). Nothing heavy here, it's all light hearted pleasure. Maybe best slightly cooled with a fatty fish dish or a tuna steak.

August 16, 2020 - Brilliant ruby with medium minus optical density and medium fine specular reflectivity for a bright and beautiful appearance. Appealing aromas of light juicy cherry, rose pedals, and spicy garden soil. Nice intensity and medium complexity make for an easy going nose. Light in body on the palate with fresh acidity and firm but polished, finely-grained tannins, and extremely dry framework, leading to a texture that is open and juicy, yet, with a grip and presence that is bold. Flavours show nice intensity and are not overly complex. The attack leads off with cherry and roses supported by light spice. Things turn a bit darker by midpalate, with some plum, cassis, and red and black liquorice adding on. The final transition drys out and shows some cherry pit, stone minerals, and dried leather. Length is medium.

Good amount of interest and depth here, very nice array of flavours for a big and bold red that isn't over-oaked or over-ripened (but plenty ripe!). A purity of spirit comes across here, for a great experience of straight-ahead classic old world wine. Evolves and expands in the glass, for a great treat from Etna, in a light and elegant package that stills packs some power. Awesome!

July 4, 2020 - The grapes are sourced from vineyards located at the altitude of 800 m above sea level. Macerated with the skins for 18 days. Aged for 3 months in French oak tonneaux. 14,5% alcohol.

Luminous, translucent ruby red color. Somewhat restrained but also quite ripe nose with reticent yet attractive aromas of cherries, some smoky mineral notes, a little bit of marmaladey red fruit, light notes of boysenberries and a hint of blackberry jam. The wine feels lively, medium-bodied and quite ripe on the palate with flavors of sweet black cherries, some blackberries, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness, light peppery notes, a hint of smoky minerality and a volcanic touch of smoke. Good sense of structure, thanks to the high acidity and moderately ample and grippy tannins. The finish is quite grippy with ripe flavors of black cherries, boysenberries, some jammy blackberries, a little bit of stony minerality, light notes of sour cherry bitterness and a hint of smoke. The high alcohol makes the wine end on a somewhat warm note.

A balanced, solid and well-made entry-level Etna. Nothing too complex, but nothing to be disappointed either. Combines southern fruit and ripeness to a more Burgundian sense of elegance and weightlessness. A thoroughly enjoyable food wine. Lovely. Priced according to its quality at 12€ for a 12 cl glass in a restaurant.
