Community Tasting Notes 10

February 15, 2021 - Second bottle of this, the first one having been stored in a cupboard and gone off, this one from the cellar and looking good. Golden hued in the glass. Oxidative hints on the nose. On the palate it was fairly light for its oxidative character. Opened up to brighter fruit and more nuance with air. Still a decent bead of acidity to keep it fresh. Drank as it should have, and an excellent example of white rioja. Great to try.

October 1, 2006 - This has definitely improved in bottle. 90P

May 1, 2006 - Infinitely better than any red Rioja I have tasted from the difficult 1997 vintage. Shares the strenuous high acidity and toughness, but the absence of red wine tannins seems to make it more enjoyable. Not for every day but excellent with pasta and cheese. 89P

February 27, 2006 - Pale gold in color, with a lovely nose of oxidized nuts with herbs and honey. Very similar on the medium-full bodied palate, with limes added to the nut, herbs and honey flavours. This wine has developed a creamy texture over the last 2-3 years, and the mixture of oxidized and creamy notes is quite striking. A lovely wine that has improved since I last tried it, but, alas, my last bottle (A-).
