June 13, 2022 - I see no one has posted a note on this in more than ten years! Well, it's very good and drinking nicely at the moment. Medium gold color. Effusive nose with yellow apple and peach, plus an herbal note, sage perhaps. Juicy and full on the palate, with a zippy acidity which many 05s are missing. Long finish unfolds layers of fruit flavors. This was lovely, and in a sweet spot of development.

June 1, 2011 - Pineapple and guava on the nose, tremendous fruit well balanced by acid and drinking well at this point. An excellent example of the Mosel.

February 2, 2011 - Wonderful riesling nose with apricot, stonefruit, and diesel backbone, mouthfilling and long on the palate, this classic auslese drank wonderfully with Thai boiled shrimp with a ginger/greenonion/garlic/jalapeno/ lime juice salsa, but then carried through a black bean chili and cornbread dinner. Dinner partners and I then decided to order and split a case.

January 10, 2009 - I enjoyed this Auslese with vanilla cream ice and a warm red fruit topping. A medium intense nose with flavors of peaches, grapefruits, some minerals and a hint of woodruff. Because of the 9% abv the wine is not very syrupy sweet in the mouth. Good fresh and clean flavors of grapefruits, honeydew, peaches, some dried herbs and minerals. The finish is medium long. All in all a well done Auslese, but a bit boring and average.

May 13, 2008 - Light yellow colour. The nose is elegant and complex showing sweet pears, peaches, apple and mineral flavours. Medium bodied and slightly sweet on the palate with a creamy texture and flavours of peaches, pears, green apple, fruit tart and chalky minerals over moderate acidity. Nice medium-long finish.

3/28/2007 (link)(Von Hovel Scharzhofberger Auslese) Wonderfully, chalky and minerally nose with tremendous complexity. Ethereal and very light-footed palate with great soft and elegant texture along with vibrant minerality and ripe piquant acids. Great length.
