March 25, 2024 - Drinking well. But can hold. Big and bold

September 11, 2021 - I go with a 95 because Trefethen is so consistent and I brought this to a party of 20 people for a special birthday and it outshines many big hitters….

I forever have stood by the history of Trefethen and the quality of the wine they produce keybword “Consistently”.

    SIGHT: Deep ruby medium staining

NOSE: Beautifully integrated oak high quality toasted coconut, vanilla, concentrated ripe blackberry and Blueberry aromas. The nose is just yummy you know your about to be drinking something special.

TASTE: Wow 2014 I’m loving right now it was a softer vintage in general for Napa and will reward with a little more time but it’s so exessable atm Gorgeous tannins the oak selection of Marchive French shows it works wonderfully with their Hillspring Cab. The nose matches the palate on par concentrated black and blue fruit a sprinkle of spice and just a benchmark solid wine from start to finish its tannins and acid all medium in great check couldn’t not like this bottle.

OVERALL: Obviously you could hold this longer yes other vintages are better like 1997, 2005, 2016 for me providing more structure but just as in Bordeaux I sense a real steal in accessibility for the 2014 vintage that people have looked over and I’m enjoying it! It’s not a show stopper wine and that’s what I love about it everybody senses it’s poise and elegance as it’s Sauve fruit and tannins Caress your palate for a memorable experience this wine isn’t trying to Unctuously show off it knows it’s great.

    30 months Marchive French oak
    95% Cab
    3% Malbec
    2% petit Verdot

    April 25, 2020 - classic CA Cab

April 2, 2020 - Midnight ruby in colour, quite closed and a bit acidic when first poured with only subtle flavours of dry wood, fresh tobacco, red cherry. Very savoury, plenty of tannin, begins to open up and smoothen out the edges after a few minutes of air. Quite delicious indeed!
