June 27, 2023 - Like the other bottles on here, the cork was soaked most of the way up. Drank this double blind next to 1995 Cos which was quite instructive. Nobody guessed a Bordeaux grape/blend for this. There was a hint of VA along with very lifted blueberry-ish fruits, some guesses for Musar or perhaps Rioja, and even for a top beaujolais. It did still have a decent amount of tannins on the back end, but they did not lead to a feeling of clenching austerity (like perhaps the Cos next to it). It had a refreshing and lifted feeling, really delicious, and a nice dinner companion.

August 13, 2022 - Sadly, this bottle was maderized. The cork was soaked 2/3 of the way up and it seems the seal was compromised.

December 18, 2019 - The cork here was utterly dessicated. A corkscrew worm ground right through it, and an Ah-So simply spun in circles and eviscerated the outer layer of dried out cork. (Note: afterward I immediately ordered a Durand, finally.) So I used an oyster knife and Dyson handheld vacuum to gradually scrape out and remove most of the dried up cork. Alas, the last 15% dropped into the wine, but I filtered it out when decanting for sediment. Of which this wine has plenty, if not the most of any Clos Saron wine I've drunk - that recognition would go to the Cuvee Mysteriuse from 2004.
So about the wine. As expected, this was very tasty and quite reminiscent of a mature left-bank claret. Only a slightly warmer (typical for Clos Saron) patina to the fruit is the clue that it's a California wine. It's very mature and for my taste already on the back foot, but still quite enjoyable.

December 28, 2018 - Beautiful wine! Complex nose, medium bodied, smooth, with a long finish.
