Community Tasting Notes 9

April 1, 2023 - Medium ruby. PnP this and forgot I had a note on it. Nose a bit restrained at first. Then definite cherry backed by mineral and woody herbs like oregano and thyme. Had a tannic bite at first. This needed a decant. Two hours later it’s drinking well, albeit a bit austere. There was a big deposit on the side of the bottle, but the tannins still aren’t resolved. Not sure what will be left of it when they are. It’s a bit too mineral and herb driven for my taste. I don’t like fruit bombs, but I also don’t like mineral and herb bombs. I’ll hold the other bottle for at least 5 years and see. I'd wait on this one. It got rave reviews from Penin and Parker, which I hadnt seen before. Also a rave on Bloomberg, which I had seen. It's a classy wine, well made and clean, but no lift to it for my tastes.

September 22, 2021 - I’ll add to the general enthusiasm here, lovely Grenache with a light touch. Complex spicy red fruits and orange peel, more fruit than say a LDH red (yes I know that is Tempranillo) but gets to the same place at the end of the day: both cerebral and hedonistic, a win win combination!

July 17, 2021 - Superb refined expression of Spanish Garnacha. Elegant with light red fruit tones.

January 17, 2021 - Medicinal and deep. Dark juiciness; haughty iodine shaman. Decanted night one. Last glass back in the bottle, which was better night two. Now - 2026.

June 17, 2020 - Extraordinary. We love, love, love this wine. It has matured into a truly elegant wine. It has time left on it but you can also enjoy it now. Rich, dark fruits with deep complexity of flavor make it a keeper.
