April 1, 2023 - Haskell's Grand Tasting (Bloomington, MN): Nice overall with cherry, spice, underbrush, violets and soil. Medium finish.

May 2, 2022 - Unscrewed and poured. Light-medium ruby in colour. Nose of red cola, some cherries, minerals, and graphite. On the palate, there are some peppery red berries with a slight touch of tea. Light-medium bodied with a short+ finish.

April 16, 2021 - This time reviewing the 2016 vintage. I was very fond of the 2015 vintage (see that review, I gave it a 90), so let's see how this one goes!

Much like the 2015 vintage, this wine is still quite dark for a pinot noir; despite having a largely transparent core it is still closer to the medium ruby range than the usual light ruby. Very aromatic, there is substantial earth and oaky vanilla behind ripe red fruits. Upon sipping, one is met with a light-bodied albeit somewhat supple wine with low tannins. The acidity starts off low and eventually sets in, reaching medium-high levels. The flavor offers ample ripe cherry and a bit of tobacco that evolves into red raspberry and a touch of oaky vanilla, the latter of which is rather apparent on the retronasal smell. The finish is moderately long though low in intensity and has a notable cherry characteristic.

Based on the review I wrote of the 2015 vintage I feel like this may be lighter and a bit less supple by comparison. The finish, too, is a little less strong. The flavors are, however, identical and it is still quite enjoyable! This makes me wish I had the 2015 bottle still so I could do a side-by-side comparison.

I found this went very, very well with some roasted BBQ pork; the acidity worked quite nicely with the pork fat and the fruit meshed in flawlessly with the BBQ sauce.

June 26, 2020 - Luscious dark berry aromas with lavender oil, clay, cedar and sandalwood. Dense on the palate. A bit hot on the entry. Nice acidity that perhaps pushes the alcohol forward but it is a touch high at 14.5. Flavors of berry tart with zesty white pepper, allspice and garrigue on the finish. Aside from the heat, it’s a tasty wine.
