Community Tasting Notes 3

September 3, 2023 - The Leflaive/Lafon/Coche with Uncle Jake (Sushi Katori): Popped and left to stand for 2 hours in bottle. First time having the Volnay and it left a good impression. Bouquet showed cola cherry, violets, strawberries with a tinge of yeasty brioche. Palate had good purity of fruit with concentration and minerality although I wished for more density and complexity. Very much correct for the vintage but definitely needs some time to flesh out and develop more complexity but actually quite pretty and easy drinking today.

September 3, 2023 - Pronounced nose intensity with sour dough, sour cream, red fruits, red cherry, strawberries. High acidity. A little unbalanced because of high acidity and palate. Will be interesting to see how the wines will develop. Keep. Will improve with ageing.

February 12, 2022 - Oh yes, this is very nice! Coche can damn well make red too. Red fruit juicy ripe nose, very accessible, no hard edges whatsoever, velvet. You can only sit and smell this for most of the evening. More of the same on taste, red fruit, almost strawberries and cream this. If I have to draw the wine for something, it may be that it lacks some nerve. It might be a little too soft, too round, for cashmere. Had done with a little more acid which creates some more energy. That said, for a nice wine!
