November 10, 2022 - This was drinking beautifully. It poured out with a green tinge and vigorous mousse. It smelt like a white Burgundy with a bit of age on it. Some toast, white peach and a little butter. With air it had some truffle notes too. The palate was focused yet generous. There was a pineapple husk character that was quite pleasant and loads of chalk. The finish had definition and length to burn.

June 19, 2022 - "Día de los Daddys" (Chicago, IL): Disgorged February 2010, 0.5 g/L. Definitely not the type of Champagne that I go for these days -- crazy high acidity with a bit of a green herbaceous note that feels out of balance given the relative lack of fruit. Feels a bit sour, and lacking breadth on the palate, not to mention that the profile is aging quite a bit, and gives this a slight nuttiness as well.

November 7, 2021 - "Brunch is the gamay of meals" Vol. 2 (Chicago, IL): nphase said I wouldn't really like this (like most of the other champagnes opened today). Can't say he was that wrong. I like the nascent mature notes on the nose and palate, but on the palate this thins out a bit and you get a lot of chalky minerality (which is really good) and a little too much acid without counterbalancing weight.

December 10, 2017 - Der stärkste Wein des Nachmittags. Feuerstein, Nuß, Brioche. Langer feiner Abgang. Ausgewogen. Hatte ich gesagt, dass mir 2004 gefällt. 94

November 3, 2016 - St Emillion First Growths (Chez Bruce, London): Richer and more rounded on the nose than I was expecting. Crisp and cool attack with some depth and breadth behind it. Long and nuanced. Richer and a little more evolved with a touch of vanilla too. ****
