Community Tasting Notes 2

  • Shloly Likes this wine: 90 points

June 2, 2021 - The wine is clear, with pale lemon color, and thick legs.
On the nose the wine is clean, with medium plus aroma intensity of sweet white flowers juice, earthiness notes, early petroleum notes, mineral notes, fresh green herbs, green apple.
On the palate the wine is sweet (58g/l), with medium plus acidity, medium minus body, medium minus alcohol (~9%), medium plus flavor intensity of melon, peach, pear, Jasmin flowers, chamomile, white tea leaves, sweet lemon pie, mineral notes.
The wine is of a very good quality, due to its balanced character (sweetness-acidity), length and complexity. It is expressive, vibrant, and appealing now, also started to show typical matureness aromas profile, but can also benefit from further aging.

June 2, 2021 - Tasting Ground official tasting, Felton Road part 2: 2018 The Whites (Oinoscent): Riesling from Blocks 2 and 4 of The Elms vineyard was carefully hand-picked, whole bunch pressed, settled for 3-5 days before racking, then fermented with indigenous yeasts. The 3 week fermentation was stopped by chilling at 58g/L and 9.0%.

The wine shows petrol, lime and rubber notes, ripe to overripe mango, apple, pear, peach.
The palate shows great balance of RS and acidity, ripe lime, pear, lemon. The wine shows medium body, its very elegant and airy, ethereal with medium finish.
The wine may lacks real depth and complexity, it is a real pleasure to drink though
