January 13, 2024 - The Clos des Ducs 2005 wine is bold, thick, almost reminiscent of Chateauneuf more so than Burgundy. Personally, I find it deviates too much from the Burgundy spectrum. It's thick and young, with abundance of cassis. This lacks the sophistication one would expect from the wine this famous. If anything, I would suggest keeping this bottle for at least another 5 years to allow it to mature, if that would help.

December 31, 2023 - Je craignais l’effet 2005 (hyperconcentration, tannins) ici mais si ça a déjà été le cas pour ce vin (je ne sais pas: c’est ma 1ère rencontre avec le 2005), ce ne l’est clairement plus. Le vin est fin mais assez évolué, les notes dominantes étant tertiaires, sur le sous-bois, sans franche oxydation. Bouteille typique VS différente du reste du lot? C’est très bon mais si elle est typique, je n’attendrais pas pour boire les autres…

December 16, 2023 - IMO this wine could be the consistently top volnay. This rendition was so rich and powerful, but very much in its youth like a like lot of 2005 red burgs. Sweet cherry and black raspberry fruit, savory spices and brambly sous bois. Perfect harmony of tannin, texture and acidity. Just a well built wine. Bravo Guillaume. Highest recommendation because this is top of burgundy yet still “affordable” QPR
