March 28, 2019 - Nothing in the cellar tracker description says "Rose", so if that's what you're looking for, you're in the right place. This quirky wine from the excellent small Chianti producer Lecci e Brocchi is defiantly non-varietal, or perhaps I should say non-monovarietal. The grapes are a dog's breakfast of Tuscan also-rans, if I may quote the producer: canaiolo, malvasia, ciliegiolo and other not identified autochthonous red grape varieties from the oldest vineyard of the company, except sangoivese (!). As befits their branding and this wine's mongrel heritage, a cute line drawing of the fluffy family mutt graces the label. One would suppose that Meticcio is dialect for blend or mix or some such.
The color is an intriguing deep salmon with orange highlights. The nose is a shifting mix of light red and citrus fruits, even spiky lemon, with fresh floral overtones and a pith-like backing. It's medium-bodied and the attractive fruit really comes to the fore, and with all those grapes it's a veritable cornucopia. Finishes nicely with good acid gentle tannins.
When you're ready to graduate from every day rose this is one to try. -

March 25, 2019 - Excellent, weighty rose. Strawberry, raspberry, and melon notes. Food friendly, heavy body for a rose.
