N: CHerries, strawberries, toast, smoke, DILL, cinnamon sticks, mushroom, figs
P: Dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, medium fine grained tannin, medium (+) body, pronounced intensity and medium (+) finish.
Its very sweet. Too sweet and detracts from other elements of the wine. Great length and intensity. Some complexity.Very good quality but I have had far better.

January 31, 2020 - Deep red/purple color. Lovely nose of cedar, pencil shavings, balsamic notes, some dill, and dark red fruit. Nice acidity up front with some red fruit, vanilla, black olive and transitioning to a creaminess with milk chocolate and mocha. Soft tannins on the back end, and a nice long finish. Beautifully integrated wine. Would be spectacular with lamb or steak, or any smoked meat.

December 31, 2018 - From Briones, in the heart of the Rioja Alta, sourced from vineyards that were all planted in 1946 or earlier. Gave 1h of air, which may not have been necessary.

Deep Ruby/Purple color. Redolent of dill, cedar, vanilla, dusty dry leaves and dried cherries. Medium-full bodied, creamy texture, supple tannins, with layers and layers of flavors unfolding on the palate. Cherry and vanilla on entry, dill and cedar in the mid-palate, citrus and spice in a finish that goes on forever. Earthy and exceedingly complex. Absolutely stunning right now with potential to get even better with time.
