February 14, 2022 - Day 1-4: Polished young/non-oxidative VdN. In addition to typical sweet Grenache baseline (dates, dark cocoa, cloves/star anise and brandy), it has solid refreshing edge of acidity with smooth surface and horizontal breadth. Tannin is big, soft and warm. As the liquid passes through the mouth, initial kick of alcohol, sweetness, and acidity transforms into delicate silky cleanness reminiscent of cool refreshing sea breeze - menthol, dried orange peel, and mild salt. Finish leaves lingering refreshing bitterness reminiscent of matcha green tea. Well balanced and not heavy despite concentration. It brought a lot more dimension to the chocolate mousse I had this evening! 91-92.

Day 6: less charming when it’s oxidized, unlike some of the rivesaltes that are already oxidized. Maybe this is better consumed young to enjoy youthfulness? My positive opinion did not change overall though.

Day 80 (leftover) - still alive and some of sweatiness on day 6 was gone, it can hold almost indefinitely.

November 24, 2021 - Very nice complexity of flavor. Dried dark fruit, cherry, cocoa, coffee. Sweet but in no way cloying. Slight alcoholic warmth. Good length. Comes out better with dessert than on it's own. Paired well with both pears in red wine and chocolate.

November 14, 2020 - Deep ruby red with purple red brim. Pleasant, somewhat floral nose with lots of dark berries, such as blueberries and bramble, also spices. Mouthfeel is velvet soft, fruity and spicy, not overly sweet, with good acidity and notes of blueberries, bramble, prunes, plums and baking spices, with good length.

A very good Banyuls, elegant and not too sweet. Drinks very well now, but will last and develop nicely for minimum a decade, probably more.
