  March 9, 2019 - Past it’s prime, but still clinging to life. Orange-amber, slightly darker in the center. Nose funky at first, then shoe polish and orange rind. Surprisingly firm body for 52 years on, with some sweetish fruit, even pretty in its way. A treat for me, as I’ve never had a Barolo of this age. Obviously would have better ten years ago, but I’m not complaining. 3-10-10-6: 79/100.

  N: Orange peel with an attractive (natural) oxygenation; COMPLEX, but tough for ME to parse; Seems QUITE rich!
  
  P: LM body; ALLURING, almost swtish "frt" firmed by the BAREST hint of puckerish astringency as it seamlessly transitions into a LONG, spicy/swt finish that poss fades JUST a tad on the end. For now & the next several yrs. My EXC+.

  October 27, 2018 - Opened an hour & decanted before it was poured. Cloudy, amber-orange in color with clear edges. Initially, it was a forward, fragrant & matured nose of orange peel, earthy/dusty notes with sun-dried tomatoes & somewhat oxidized which eventually developed with continued airing to a bouquet of minerals, tar, roses, earthy/dusty, spice notes of cinnamon & cloves, some caramel & hints of orange peel in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of balanced & silky smooth texture of well developed ripe fruit flavors of sour cherries, berries, tar, minerals & a hint of spices.
  
  I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to sample this unique, interesting & well-age Barolo! Many thanks to the generous & kind person who brought it out to share. I am reluctant to score this wine given it's historical context.
