November 5, 2023 - Much more 2005 than Chambolle. Big ripe fruit, no flaws, but graceless. Perfectly fine but not interesting.

September 2, 2023 - Lovely scents of red and dark cherries, spices, fruits with herbaceous undertones which carry to the palate.

May 19, 2023 - This bottle was much firmer than anticipated. Dark cherry, black tea and a bit of cola, mint and smoke. Very nice structure. Firm without obvious tannins. Medium finish. Drunk over 3 hours after breathing in the bottle for 45 minutes. Really excellent for its level.

(CHAMBOLLE VV Lignier-Michelot) 2005 Burgundy Dear Friends, Our parcel of 2005 Lignier-Michelot has docked and it is one of major league caliber. All of the wines below are VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and we only have one shipment. The Bourgogne is particularly exciting and all of the wines are even better from bottle than they were from barrel. This lot is directly from the cellars at Lignier-Michelot with perfect provenance: 2005 Lignier-Michelot Bourgogne (Bons Betons) (BH85-88) EXTREMELY LIMITED This wine is outstanding for what it is - period. It reaches way beyond its calling and would compete with 2005s at twice the price: 2005 Lignier-Michelot Chambolle-Musigny Vielles Vignes (BH89-91) STRICT LIMIT 3/person Another outstanding effort and one that reaches way beyond it's pedigree. From some of Chambolle's most desirable old vines: 2005 Lignier-Michelot Morey St. Denis "Faconnieres" (BH92) EXTREMELY LIMITED Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg6001 Burg6002 Burg6003

(Lignier-Michelot Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes) Medium, medium-plus cherry-red colour. The nose starts with a forward mix of red and black cherry plus a rather mineral note. The longer it stays in the glass, it becomes redder and finer but with much less volume. The palate is mainly about balance - reasonable concentration and a sneaky extra cherry dimension that goes into the palate too. It’s quite lithe, not too muscular and again a little mineral. Today it’s a classy if slightly anonymous bottle - a very good bottle for sure, but one that I hope will become even better. Given it’s lowly en-primeur purchase price of 29 Swiss francs it remains an easy and bargain rebuy, if you can find some for that…
