February 19, 2022 - A beauty: Lovely wafts of roses, black tea, clove and dried cranberries. The notes include black tea, lavender, mandarin, toasted walnuts, pomegranates and faint, but detectable bursts of hisbiscus. The acidity and tannins match each other wonderfully. Not sure if there’s much else to improve on here with additional aging, but I wouldn’t hold you against it if you decided to do so. It was great with portobellos reduced down in balsamic vinegar.

Tonight I had a martini after a strenuous golf outing (yes, poor me) and I needed something while watching Inventing Anna, so I just plain popped the cork to finish the rest of the bottle. I found it very intriguing and bright and fun. Now I’m confused. I think I won’t dabble in Pinot more. I think it’s that crazy bitch that you can never figure out and she leaves your wallet empty, and in the end you wish you never met her.
