Community Tasting Notes 5

December 14, 2020 - Slightly off-bottle I think. Rustic style, bit too much barnyard with leather saddle, and a slightly sour finish. Dense dark fruit, high acid but ultimately doesn’t quite come together to be rather hollow on the palate.

October 3, 2020 - Medium ruby. Lovely nose of dark and red fruit, strawberry, dark cherry with a touch of sweet spices. Good mouth fill, stays fresh. Medium finish.

July 12, 2020 - A private lunch (Restaurant De Watergang, Amsterdam, NL): Ripe Gamay fruit and a hint of floral lift, juicy and fresh, with mildly earthy meaty and spicy notes, ripe acidity and gentle tannins, satiny texture, good flavour intensity and persistence. An attractive blend of charm, elegance and delicate rusticity (if such a thing exists).

June 8, 2019 - Drank ove two nights, it needed the air and was a LOT more open and forthcoming on day two. Vibrant fruit, cherries and raspberries, nice juicy mouthfeel and a fairly complex spicy aftertaste that lingers and speaks to high quality winemaking. This wine tastes a lot and has a lot going on, but is still light and refreshing. Very sorry it's my last bottle - this I why I love Beaujoulais!

January 20, 2019 - Thick, dark ruby. Pronounced smell of star anise and blackberries. Integrated tannins, nicley balanced and very enjoyable.
