Community Tasting Notes 2

  • Jack Cranley Likes this wine: 90 points

August 25, 2022 - First impression is, very savory. Not a lot of fruit right at first. Meaty, mushroomy, sanguine. Lots of dissolved minerals, iron pan, and a curious ozone/electricity thing going on.

The fruit that emerges is punchy - watermelon, guava, cherry candy, kool-aid powder.

Nice broad, provocative flavors. Melon, red raspberry, red currant. Nicely balanced structure. Definitely tending towards the chewy side of the tannin spectrum, but not overly green/short/astringent. The acid is very mouthwatering, and overall this wine comes across as fairly wound up. Will probably benefit from another three or four years in bottle (drinking the 2017 in August of 2022) Also probably a good food wine.

June 19, 2021 - Had immediately after a Brooks 2017 Sunset Ridge bottle, and although very good, a step or two behind the Brooks. Both aromaticly and finish wise mainly.
