January 27, 2024 - 1hr slow-ox. One to admire before the first sip. Fairly complex nose that lots of evolution in the glass. Nice viscosity in the mouth. Classic style that has no need to go out of fashion. Juicy, fresh, underlaying minerality, acidity that just brings life without bringing attention to itself. The only issue is a slight overpresence of the oak. Surprising, considering that Carillon uses wood only for a year with mere 20% new oak. The same issue as the village 2017.

January 10, 2022 - Burgundy Dinner with Friends (RPM Seafood - Chicago IL): Bottle had been opened the night before. Fleshy and rich with good density, this is slightly sweet while nicely balanced, but slightly lacking the brightness I expect from the very good 2017 1er Crus at this level. If served blind, I would have thought 2018 instead of 2017.

January 9, 2022 - Boastful nose of citrus accented white fruit, mineral and a kiss of wood toast that has yet to integrate. Rich, round fruit with electric acidity makes for an energetic and vibrant palate. Long finish with sweetness of fruit balanced with tart acids. A fun, young Chardonnay in a delightful vintage.
