May 21, 2009 - Bought it last year 2008 through auction. A Sherry Lehmann Selection. I am glad I bought two. I was skeptical how it would turn out after 56 years and many destinations. I waited one year to ensure the bottle is at peace and harmonized before opening. The cork was pulled out surprisingly in one single solid piece. Should I pour, should I pour, or should I wait (never decant an old Burgundy)..... What the hell. The glass filled with full of wonderful berries immediately. You know it's going to be good. Should I sip, should I sip and later find out disappointment as I had for many old vintages (part of the fun with Burgundy)? It's opened, and there's no going back. That nose is so irresistent. Let me smell more, let me smell more, and more..... It's so nice and dense without drinking it as what a good Burgundy should be. I wish there's a male perfume made just like that. Ok, enough with my ugly own physical nose. Time to taste. What can I say? Perfect storage, perfect selection by Dr. Barolet. It's definitely worth the $$$$. Wow, it's still tannic. Life? Yes. Fruit? Yes. Cote de Nuits? Yes. Acidity? Yes, not too much left. Any more improvement? Doubt it, but I think it will stay for few more years if it's stored in the ideal condition. Maybe have past its peak; I could image how good it could be. It's still very very very good. After 45 minutes, it still gets better. A village? Under statement. It's definitely a distant comparison with 62' DRC Romanee Conti, but it's holding well and pleasant in 2009.
