February 15, 2021 - There is a lot going on here. Almost black in the glass, with a pronounced nose of dried rose petals, blackberry, black cherry, ripest raspberry, prune, raison, cloves, vanilla, the smoky and spicy notes of black cardamon, and sage. It is sweet, though this is balanced by both high acidity and alcohol, and I love the chewy tannins. It tastes like it smells - dark fruits balanced with aromatic herbs. I like it.

November 29, 2018 - Here we go atruffling... (aka Piedmont... and Veneto); 11/16/2018-11/30/2018 (Alba, Guarene, Modena, Barolo, La Morra, Lake Garda .....): Very interesting wine. This is meant to be a sweet wine, but not as intense as the standard recioto. Can see pairing this even in the middle of a dinner or having as an apertif. It's got the raisins and maybe almonds and darker style fruits. In the beg is even a bit more sweet, but that seems to fade in the mid-palate and then the finish is a bit quicker and without that lingering sense of sugar. 'Light' for a wine of this style. Enjoyable.
