Community Tasting Notes 9

July 7, 2019 - Tasted at the winery, poured as a special gift from Francesca Vajra. She said it had been opened the night before.
Beautifully perfumed, notes of prunes, confectioned cherries, hot tar, wet tobacco leaf, stewed tomatoes, old leather.
The structure in the mouth was stunning, as I did not think the Albe bottling would last this long and still be this good.
Bright acidity, tense and tart red cherry fruit with ample tannins and a finish that went on for 40+ secs.
A gorgeous wine, and Francesca was such a fantastic hostess. Drink this wine now through 2025.

March 19, 2018 - No formal notes, still much alive even though signs of weakness is showing.

January 22, 2018 - Took about 2-3 hours to open up, but it took on a nice floral aroma that was airy and subtle. The palate drank nicely - plum, cherry, spices, & some earth. A great entry level barolo that I think remains a great value.

January 17, 2014 - Friday wines: Mild dark berries, some smoke; fresh and intense, good balance, tannic, structured and lovely. Obviously very young, but no shame in drinking this after several hours in the decanter.

July 25, 2013 - Chicago Italian Lovers round 3-2000 Barolos (Sapori Trattoria, Chicago IL): Nose: Very perfumed nose with red fruited tones of wild flowers, roses, violets, fresh picked strawberries, roasted herbs, tar, cherries, and some berries. This is very fragrant while showing a feminine side along with some more plush fruit.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and very good tannins. The feel is very sexy with well balanced and feminine tones of wild flowers, roses, violets, fresh picked strawberries, roasted herbs, and some red cherries.

Overall: This is a very pretty wine. This had a lot of class and poise while showing nice warmth to the fruit.
