August 5, 2020 - One of the best Schioppettino’s I’ve tasted. Fruit and aged tannins meant this wine is at its prime. Excellent complexity and interplay between fruit and structure, which is rare. A winner.

October 12, 2019 - Decanted about 45 minutes before I tasted it at a friends house. Light to medium garnet color. Nose is unbelievable with huge amounts of pepper and lavender that just wafts from the glass. The palate is also dominated by those flavors but with some effort you can coax from the glass some plum, anise and raspberry. Long finish. Very unique and quite delicious with a variety of foods including buffalo wings, Florentine pizza and cheeses.

October 5, 2019 - Winebar [4 Whites, 8 Reds, & 8 *shared* bottles] from 10/04/19 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Christine, THANK you for sharing a wine that was TOTALLY new to me! :)

"100% Schioppettino planted in 1982 in calcareous mineral base soils with a high presence of iron sesquioxides;" Typically, “Hand harvested, de-stalked, & brought to must by way of soft-pressing; Extremely long maceration with principal fermentation along with the grape skins, refrigerated with well water @ a controlled temp not > 25°C; After racking, the wine undergoes an additional 35 days of fermentation. The wine is then stored in n°316 s/s tanks, followed by aging for at least 2 years in 2000 L oak casks. After bottling, groups of 500 bottles each are placed in large chests, which are then stored in a temperature controlled warehouse for additional aging.”

    N: Cherries, spice; Seems bright

P: LM body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it morphs into a LONG, BALANCED finish with an attractive tangy/swtness to the FEW, unoffensive, yet firming, very, VERY fine tannins. For now & through '21, I'd suspect. VERY nicely done! 13% ABV; My EXC-/EXC (90-93/100 using that metric).

September 1, 2019 - To the nose pepper is the predominant scent, the qine is young and powerful, with some time it woll open up and reveal dry flowers like 2010.
To the palate fine tannins well integrated and medium plus acidity, pepper is (again) the main thing, with some other spices and a little plum, a very powerful version of the Schiopettino.
Got this bottle directly from Fulvio Bressan.. handwritten Schiopettino 2013 as they didn't had any label.

June 10, 2019 - No notes, extra poured wine at Rimessa, Rome with Cody. It was solid, but not special
