May 20, 2019 - fully mature with a very slight amount of oxidation on the finish

    March 24, 2018 - Mid gold.
Rich nose, packed with peach, roast pear, and a buttery creaminess.
Gorgeous palate. Rich fruit characters, honeyed peaches, but also a hint of citrus vibrancy running through it. Really clean and precise, despite the richness, with a fattiness that coats the cheeks. Lovely finish. A gorgeous mature pinot gris.
Unlike the last bottle, this is showing no signs of needing drinking up. Which is unfortunate as this is my last bottle. Though it's definitely a very good place now, probably at its peak?

    February 6, 2018 - Medium gold.
Pear, butter, peach, beurre noisette on the nose.
Rich, full palate. A bit straightforward, and although there's no oxidation here, I think this is in needing drinking up territory. Rich, round, open. Very clean and polished after.

August 20, 2017 - A very ripe nose with honey, apricot, pear, fried apple, dried fruit, some botrytis, hints of musk and mushroom. Slightly off-dry, very fruity and concentrated on the palate, same fruit components as the nose but also citrus, and a fine and balancing acidity, plus a fresh aftertaste albeit with a tiny hint of alcohol coming through at the end. 91 p.

Definitely on the fruity side of Alsace dry(ish) wines, probably driven by the ripe vintage, although this is not surprising for the producer. Was probably never meant to be kept for this long, but it is holding together fine.

October 9, 2013 - (magnum) PnP, served non-blind at Lotus of Siam. Bright medium straw, good reflections. The nose is tight at first (same for the palate), which is consistent with the color - this is ageing glacially. Mostly dry (think classic feinherb), with good mineral and rock undertones and bright, though understated notes of red apple, orange peel and white floral. It would have been great to open this in five more years, perhaps more, or , at a minimum, to have decanted this for a few hours. Excellent with food, even better with friends. 14,0% abv (in this format, drink thru 2021)
