March 23, 2024 - Whole bunch, fermented in lageres, foot trodden. Deep ruby with purple hue, blue and dark fruit, fine tannin. Very good. Still very young. Best Alicante Bouschet.

October 21, 2022 - At a Mouchao dinner, this showed very well tonight. Booming fruit with some sneaky structure that is well-integrated. Very, very old and large oak used on this wine...so none of the usual newer oak influences. Rather, a unique hint of toasted chestnut - nice bit of complexity added with this. The wine was paired with a grilled steak, which proved to be a fine match. This wine drinks so well now from .750 format, yet has decades left in the tank.

February 29, 2020 - Tasted at the Decanter Masterclass, Rare Museum Wines from Portuguese Icons, presented by "The Wine Detective" Sarah Ahmed. 100% alicante bouschet. The "3-4" refers to the barrel numbers of these 100 year old barrels (there are 4 in total). Young looking, dark ruby. Floral nose, herbal, mint. The palate is a bit sour, less depth, maybe would open with more time, but not well balanced at the moment. It may simply be that I'm not a great fan of 100% alicante bouschet.
