January 26, 2020 - WSET Level 3; 11/3/2019-2/3/2020 (San Diego, CA): Medium ruby with garnet; Pronounced intensity, developing aromas of secondary oak aging (cedar, smoke, toast, chocolate, spice) and tertiary aromas of bottle age (leather, savory, earth). Primary aromas of dried fruit (baked cherry, jamminess, prune, raisen, baked raspberry, baked plums), herbaceous (currant leaf), pungent spice (pepper, liquorice), stones and graphite. Dry, Medium acid, Med tannins, full body, med+ intensity, high alcohol, long finish. Palate reflects the nose. Very good, borderline outstanding wine. Drink now, but has potential for ageing.
