December 30, 2013 - Opened one of these a long time ago without entering the bottle into CT. Just finished the second. Showing rather well. Fontafredda does a good job - the fruit remains vibrant, the aromatics are compelling - lots of leather, tar, with smokey notes - and the finish is quite strong. But the wine overall lacks depth and complexity. A very good wine, but not close to a great wine.

May 18, 2012 - 1978 Barolo & Barbaresco with The Rare Wine Company (Del Posto, NYC): Deep blood. Extremely reticent, even sullen, nose. Mint? Palate robust, dry, full-bodied. But, a little clipped. Overall, rather blank and closed. Judgement reserved.
