again unbeliavable fresh and cracking, not too much berries, spicy, balanced and elegant, not detectable as a Rose. 94-95

January 14, 2020 - Dinner with Herwig (Heirloom cafe): Disgorged 2016. Aromatic, beautiful nose with some brioche, red apple, slightly oxidative; palate is medium bodied, apple skin, high acid, lovely persistence. A great rose champagne. 94

January 13, 2020 - From a well-cellared bottle that was disgorged October 28, 2014, this medium salmon-colored Champagne was serially sampled over two hours. Sporting a vibrant small bead, it delivers aromas and flavors of strawberries, pit fruits, citrus, bread dough and marzipan. Light notes of oxidation appear on the mid-palate, becoming more prominent on the lengthy back end. While many may prefer this wine in its current state, I would have favored consumption at an earlier date. Those who like a bit of oxidative complexity will find this to be enjoyable for another year or two. Drink now-2022.

My first Selosse Rosé. Wonderful nose with lots of red berries. On the palate very joyful and delicious. Very long and lingering. Beautiful! 94-95

nailed it. The best Rose I had from Selosse. Beautiful crazy nose after black currant, red berries and sure slightly roasted pinenuts. The best Rose after Cristal for me. 96-97

Rockss and Fruit

(NV Jacques Selosse Rose) This really brought the funk. Um . . .Lopez Rose with bubbles? Yes . . .that type of funk. Really amazing nose but the palate was sort of a letdown. Some simple berry fruit with notes of hay and barnyard. Slightly candied. The nose was just amazing though. My least favorite wine of the night but major kudos to the aromatic complexity. I would like to try this again at some point. Probably not showing its best.

(NV Jacques Selosse Rose Brut) Very Burgundian. But red Burgundian. Nose of dried leaves, red berry fruits, intense cinnamon and lots of rocks and mineral. Very stony on the palate but has the sap and structure of a great red Burgundy. Clos de la Roche or Clos St. Denis. It had that bright profile due to its's great acidity but the fruits were of the dark red almost blue kind. Lots of grapey skin flavors on the finish. Amazingly persistent fruit. After it continued to open in tha glass the nose became much more open reminding me more of some red Morey St. Denis wine. Unique and delicious. Unlike any Champagne I have quite had.
