September 7, 2019 - The nose was rich, showing dried black cherries, crushed blueberry, moist earth, sweet and savory spices, hints of sage, eucalyptus, and dark floral undergrowth. On the palate, silky textures flooded the senses, offset by brisk acidity, giving way to ripe strawberry, cherry and plum, made savory through saline-minerality, along with peppery spices and wild herbs. The finish was long, and satisfying, showing perfect maturity, with a coating of dried red and blue berry fruits, earthy mineral tones and a hint of sous bois.

March 20, 2019 - Here I found a seductive bouquet of ripe black cherries enveloped by both sweet and savory spices, along with blueberry skins, rubbed sage, eucalyptus, and dark floral undergrowth. On the palate, silky textures were made vibrant through brisk acidity, with dark mineral-infused fruits. Notes of ripe strawberry, cherry and plum slowly gave way to peppery spices and wild herbs, as the experience leaned toward the savory side. The finish was long and satisfying, still showing hints of tannin, yet mature, with a coating of red and blue fruits, earthy mineral tones and a hint of sous bois.

Frankly, I look at the past notes on this wine and I can't help but think about how underrated the Venge Merlot was, and how much these tasters missed out on.

December 20, 2009 - May be past its prime. Closed nose, drying tannins and just a bit of fruit.

October 20, 2008 - Personally my least favorite wine of the night. Just loads of black pepper on the nose with some dirt and sour cherry. A big ol handful of tart cherries with a medicinal aftertaste. A tannic and disjointed rough finish.

June 15, 2008 - Blackberry, cherry, licorice, anise, chocolate and cigar box - sharp on the nose; distinct as well as complex. Moderately tannic with a soft and full mouthfeel. Predominantly raspberry and plum for the palate with some indistinguishable although well integrated spices. Full luscious and velvety finish. Well made and a wonderful wine.
