January 7, 2024 - My take on this wine is flavors of apple, lemon and slight honey. The aromas appear with the apple and lemon, but also add some mineral aspect. The acidity and tannins work well but not enough to elevate my score, sorry. The elevated alcohol does cover up some minor flaws. I enjoyed this wine and would buy more, however, when compared to other choices, it would depend on what choice I had. I can't argue with the community drink window.

September 6, 2023 - G20; 4.5+8.5*+4*+8.5+8.5+4.5+4.5=93+ 15.0% alc. Medium golden color. Aromas of buttery burnt caramel (kerosene) with some ripe / over-fermenting tropical fruit that evolves into caramel and butterscotch with air time. Flavors follow the aromatics and mouthfeel adds oily smoothness, nice acidity, some alcohol heat and a medium-long finish. Good balance and lots of good years ahead. A bit harsh on the finish when it warms to room temp. Cellar temp and lots of air is when this wine expresses its best character. Day 3 (pumped) continues its evolution from slow-ox in the pumped bottle and refer storage. Aromatics are way up (9.5). Palate intensity is also extreme with deep, deep penetration and very long finish. I hesitate to raise those scores because intensity without deliciousness does not necessarily equate a great wine/score. I think these are unique, high sensory wines that I will continue to buy and enjoy, but will they ever achieve white Burgundy levels...? No. They are very good for what they are and some people don't like what they are and some people are maybe more enamored than they should be. Drink and enjoy for the unique qualities that are Aubert. Also see my related 1991 Eyrie Pinot Gris review.

July 31, 2023 - PnP. What an amazing vintage from this single vineyard Chardonnay. Nose is rich with matchstick, apples, grapefruit, peaches, cashew nuts, hints of lemon curd and sea spray. Palate is medium to full bodied, grapefruit, apples with tropical hints, elevated acidity with same richness and creamy texture fully evident and long finish. I liked this touch more than Powder House same 2017 vintage. Could get even a little better in a couple of more years but no need to hold back.
