October 2, 2022 - tasted blind and there was talk of new world, as this was showing gorgeous ripe blueberry and cherry notes... truly beautiful, with a simply fabulous nose, and a velvety texture, it was surprisingly open-knit on the palate... at the last moment I said "it's 2005 Musigny", a lucky guess, as I don't have such a studied palate to "know" Musigny, though there was a delicate spiciness reminiscent of sassafras that I have found in more than one de Vogue... some guessed 2015, and I could see why, as this obviously has a very long life ahead of it

July 27, 2022 - At Harvey's, Fortitude Valley. Served at our Wine Group De Vogue Musigny vertical this was opened and decanted for 2 hours before pouring and had a medium deep cherry red and a nose of dark plums, wild strawberry and black raspberry with touches of spice and game. The palate did not match the intensity of the nose but was well structured and quite tight with fine persistence and balance. There was group discussion as to whether there was a very discreet note of cork taint but given the decant and time in the glass this was not sustained. certainly this wine was overshadowed by delicious bottles of 99, 02 and 09. Only time and another bottle will tell but this had been cellared safely since arrival and should be better.

December 17, 2021 - It's not terrible but nothing near what you'd expect from this plot, this vintage... C&B strip. (01078)

December 10, 2021 - 00081. Baked aromatics with sweetness on the palate. Rather profound if disturbed by that Vogue tomatonsess. 94+

(Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Vieilles Vignes) What a surprise - not served last. Understated, tight aromatics, despite that there is wide panorama of notes - just limited depth. In the mouth it’s simply a tour-de-force. It’s just an amazing mouthful of complexity. At this level, price is effectively transcended.
