March 18, 2024 - No tasting note written.
September 11, 2022 - Rich and silky with plum, milk chocolate and creme de cassis.
July 15, 2022 - Gifted to neighbor
January 14, 2022 - smooth tannins. Lacked a little in depth.
November 11, 2021 - Opened and decanted by HMC....probably the best I have ever tasted for a Sojourn cab! In a really good spot right now with sweet, dark fruit, rounded tannins and balanced acidity. Very nice, Jimbo!
September 27, 2021 - So, I have struggled with this wine. I first tasted it with the winemaker in 2019 and thought it was terrific. I subsequently purchased three bottles from the secondary market, as quite a discount. I drank the second last evening, not decanted, but over 3 hours.
For me, the last two bottles are simply lacking something special. It has an attractive nose, that doesn't quite deliver on the palate. Nice wine, well made, dark fruits with cassis and cherries, hints of earth/dust/minerality, wood. medium in body, short finish. I ight of guessed it was a beckstoffer cab, but more muted than other producers.
Overall, it is available at a very decent price, but I think that far better expressions of this vineyard exist
August 7, 2021 - Opened and decanted through a vinturi. The lack of open time did effect the rating a bit. The nose is all fruit. The palate was blackberry, cassis, leather, tree bark and a touch of thyme leading to a long smooth finish. For last night 92+
May 29, 2021 - A inky dark purple hue. Wafts of leather, cedar, tobacco and lavender. Extreme concentration with blueberry, charcoal, pepper, and espresso. Thick, robust and vibrant in its youth with a pleasant gritty mineralization throughout. 96 points.
May 14, 2021 - Big fruit and floral nose. Silky plum and creme de cassis with good minerality.
March 21, 2021 - Splash decanted. Really wonderfully powerful nose. Creme cassis, slight vanilla, oak, hints of jolly rancher watermelon. The nose is significantly better than the palate. Missing a strong fruit characteristic on the flavor IMO. Good wine, would like to try again to see if these notes are consistent.
