December 21, 2023 - got a six pack of this on K&L auction for a steal.

Decanted for 90 minutes before taking to Steak 48 in Del Mar.

This wine is clicking on all cylinders at this point. Full mouthfeel, deep dark fruit, resolved tannins, yet still backs a bit of punch with the 20% inclusion of Petite Syrah.

She will cruise in the cellar so no rush to start frantically popping corks, but its so good now with a bit of air, so why wait? Easy 95, could tick higher in the near future.

Drank alongside a 2013 Hundred Acre Ark, and while that bested the Kata, it wasnt 4X better. So for QPR purposes, Kata > HA

    I LOVE this wine.

November 14, 2023 - Decanted one hour before service. In the glass, dark saturated purple. On the nose, dried currants and potpourri. On the palate, equal parts currants, blueberries, and a grapey note reminiscent of Welch's grape juice - a fruit bomb note, to be sure, and not in a good way. The midpalate shows youthful structure, followed by assertive tannins on the finish. Given the Beckstoffer pedigree, not at all what I expected; I hope this is just an awkward phase.

August 18, 2023 - Drinking well. Tannins are integrated. Still young, but approachable now. I like it

January 28, 2022 - Dark ruby, white flowers perfume, very thicc, cigar box. A big wine but with a lovely balance of acid and promising fruit and some delicate spice. A behemoth with subtle qualities that need 5-10 years to smooth out.

February 2, 2021 - Very young. Had a Coravin glass previously and then tasted remainder over 4 hours. Smoothed out some toothsome tannins but still reluctant to fully blossom. Initial finish seemed a bit short but just starting to show itself. Well integrated. Will try next bottle in a few years
