January 6, 2022 - Faint violet nose. Faded cherry and blueberry fruit on the palate but still pretty. Non-existent tannins, light acidity, good balance. Finishes short and bright. Well past prime but still some pleasure there.

January 5, 2020 - After reading CT reviews, I braced for mediocrity. However what I've found right out of bottle was better: not a "fruity CA Syrah" as you'd expect from hot Lake County, but enough acid to supply juicy purple and red fruit alongside scorched earth, mocha, olives. Luscious mid-body and mouth feel. No hint of bitterness except perhaps something akin to echos of cacao. Enticing nose. Not complex. Finish is a bit "purple" like a young CnP that hasn’t unwound, length is decent.

90 min in it hits an off purple phase and then evolves towards meatiness and bacon fat. A little more pepper and piquant in feel, less lushness and smooth.

Drink today, perhaps best through 2025. Cork was not holding together, be careful. Good QPR at $25 USD in 2020.

May 6, 2018 - Copain Syrah Tasting (My Place - Washington, DC): Dark and plummy on the nose with violets and black olives. Surprising grip on the tannins, this is quite dense actually, but some fresh acidity. Black currants and rich black cherries, quite “purple” in its approach. Floral as well with potting soil and violets. One of the wines that needs more time, which I found surprising and interesting.
