  August 18, 2023 - Brought by Fletcher to Vivat Bacchus. Nose is slightly restrained at first but opens to reveal black and red cherry fruit, spice, sandalwood. Medium/full bodied, lovely pure cherry fruit, spice, sandalwood again, some firm but fine tannins still providing structure and grip towards the finish, fresh acidity, very good length. Lovely, drinking now but may still improve.

  April 4, 2023 - 成熟的黑樱桃、黑李子，烟丝、皮革、泥土和菌菇香气，非常传统的古典风格。高单宁、高酒精，入口略显沉闷，但有很好的集中度。随着醒酒，更多清凉薄荷和植物性的香气涌现，将少许的陈旧气息一扫而空，不仅口感更加均衡，风格也变得鲜活起来，带来了更好的愉悦感。

  April 10, 2022 - My last 2001 Costanti Brunello Riserva had a perfect cork, yet the wine did not live up my expectations. Imagine my surprise when this bottle, with a saturated cork, balled me over. All floral, autumnal and focused on deep red fruits and tobacco. Fleshy yet refined, a model of purity, with vivid red berries and a twang of sour citrus. While there are still some grippy tannins lingering, the 2001 is quite giving tonight, and so full of life.

  September 18, 2021 - Shane's 6th Annual Game Dinner - Game & Truffle (Chateau Lea, New Jersey): In my cellar since release. Double decanted at 2:45 pm prior to bringing to Shane’s game dinner. Distinctly bricked medium to dark garnet. Nose blows up with dried porcini mushrooms then a touch of red berry fruit and old book leather. Palate is bright and lifted with cherry, mushroom, some baking spice and a hint of pleasant VA. Some tannin remaining. Long finish. More after the meal… This wine was just wonderful with the deconstructed bison short rib ravioli we had at about 8:30pm. The wine had changed color significantly getting much darker garnet with just a little bricking. The palate has balsamic notes, plum, leather, truffle and lots of savory umami elements. This was one of my favorite pairings in the evening and there were several others who also thought it among the best.

  September 18, 2021 - I thought very fine indeed and still could have used more time to open up (we poured it straight from the bottle and drank over two hours). Loads of chocolate and coco, supple palate but still with lots of energy.
