February 28, 2021 - Drunk with roast butternut squash soup with parsley pesto. Yellow gold. A buttery nose that developed into almonds, cream, ripe melon and vanilla. Quite rich, full and well balanced with very good length. Going strong with no sign of fading. It is drinking well and is very enjoyable but would need more complexity to score higher. This may yet get better over the next 10 years - still seems quite young.

May 14, 2016 - Medium lemon - fully developed. Very tight and lean upon opening. Needed decanting for an hour, plus closer to room temperature to open up and fill out. Broad but crisp, still with freshness even if fully mature, without the concentration or structure to support positive future development. Not especially textured on the midpalate, nor showing great sense of place or present. Focus to the finish if angular, not energetic. Citrus, honey, yeast, toast ... nothing particularly distinctive.

December 17, 2013 - Pours a clear pale yellow color. Aromas of toasted corn, light oak, gravel, mineral. Wine is still tight, with flavors of oak, white fruit, toasted coconut, and jasmine. Unique wine.

May 19, 2013 - Chicago Berserkerfest Dinner #3 (Chez Whitehead - Northbrook IL): Very fat stone fruit aromas, very 2005 in character. Good fruit flavors to start, slightly soft in middle and finish.

(Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot Monopole Premier Cru) The ’05 version achieves an elegant balance of nutty apricot flavors and citrus zest, backed by complex minerality and a skim-cream texture. It shows less obvious wood and a much rounder mouthfeel than the ’06, finishing crisp and clean. Terroir: Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot
