Community Tasting Notes 4

November 25, 2023 - Quite deep in colour. On first tasting, the acid hit me. After an hour or two it wasn't so prominent. (Did the wine change, or did I?) There is solid flavour and texture and still unresolved tannin. A hint of charcuterie. I'm guessing that a year or two will improve it.
addition: I tend to consider that young reds with noticeable tannin need some age, but now I think they might be best showing their brilliant youth. This is a classy Bourgogne from a very good maker.

    July 12, 2023 - Dark cerise.
Initially quite reticent, hints of spice and dark red fruits, progressively opens up over the hours to reveal youthful, and surprisingly dark/concentrated for a ‘17, dark cherry fruit, rose perfume, spice, blood orange, Oolong tea, sappy, feminine, fine tannin still relatively prominent and overall youthfully muted. Delicious.

    February 11, 2023 - Vibrant medium cerise.
Initially relatively muted, subdued nose: sauvage, mirepoix intermingles with cola, confection and rose.
Palate has a rather sturdy tannic frame that remains fairly constant, initially somewhat astringent with sloes and damsons, with time more of a citrusy, mineral-acid wine, quite long, with very persistent raspberries and violets. But wait a while longer methinks.

    September 20, 2019 - Bright purple red.
Very complex nose, smoke, mineralite, floral, spice, hints of red fruits.
Sappy youthful palate, bright red fruits but predominantly mineral. Best wait a year or two.
