January 9, 2023 - Restaurant purchase. Took some time to open, but then developer very nicely, 92+. Nevertheless, qpr could be better…

  • Discobiscuits42 Likes this wine: 95 points

October 8, 2022 - On the nose smoked meats, tobacco, stone, mushroom. Wonderful texture on balance. Near perfect balance. An ultra deep berry flavor in a woody profile (in a good way). Exemplary. Bomb.com

June 3, 2022 - Pop and pour. Really appealing mix of ripe fruit and earthy elements. Smoked meat on the nose and savory palate.

May 15, 2021 - Tasted with 2011. Both medium red, 11 more browny rim, 17 purplish; 11 somewhat muted nose, bit of caramel, woody flavours; 17 completely different, fruity with lots of raspberries; 11 appears somewhat closed (?), medium body, agreeable, correct, 17 fresh fruity flavours, a bit soft drink-like; I preferrred 17, wife and my mother preferred 11 - thought it would have been the other way around; I lacked more complexity in 11, while enjoyed the straight forward fruitiness of 2017, although I agree with rest of family that it is more soft water like, unlike the 11, which is clearly matured and “assembled”

January 25, 2020 - Winebar [1 Rosé, 3 Whites, 8 Reds, & 7 *shared* bottles] from 01/24/20 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): “Area: 0.63 ha; Owner: GFA des ARBAUPINS; This parcel is located next to the GROS family parcel of RICHEBOURG in the N. The draining capacity of the place may explain its name: the natural vegetation would be quickly ‘burned’ during summer because of the dryness of the soil. The soil is very stony, of a 30-35cm thickness, & the subsoil is made of hard limestone (similar to Prémeaux stones).” Typically, “This wine offers a great minerality. It is similar to Richebourg from which it is separated only by a 3m-wide lane. But the soil, which is not as thick as the Richebourg's, brings more softness to the tannins & makes it more rapidly accessible.”

N: Vanilla atop RIPE berries with notes of minerals with poss forest floor? Intensity lurking?

P: Med, poss MF, body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which stays within hailing distance of the init frt as it fairly seamlessly transitions into a very LONG, impeccably BALANCED finish with a slight tanginess & sense of swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. NEEDS/deserves through '22 min, then EASILY making its 10th. IMPRESSIVELY done! My EXC/EXC+, the higher a good bet... eventually. 90-92 pts ea Burghound (1/’19) & Vinous (Martin, 1/1/19), and 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson (1/7/19). [Check with this vendor if interested in their very COMPETITIVE price.]
