April 2, 2023 - Obviously I’m a big fan of this wine given this is my third note. MJP did a great review from last night on this same wine and I completely agree/defer to his notes. My previous note for this wine was from July of 2021 and I think the Melanson is starting to soften a bit as the tannins wear off. Probably in the optimal drinking window right now.

April 1, 2023 - I enjoy building a lineup when hosting friends for dinner. I've been working through a stash of 90's Eisele and this 97 did not disappoint! Select cuts of Ribeye, NY Strip & Filet with a robust salad of roasted beets, sweet potato, pistachio over spring mix & crumbled goat cheese. Balsamic vinaigrette.

I love when a wine showcases terroir and vintage along with the stylist impression of the wine maker. Cecila Welch does this wonderfully.
What a beautiful expression of Prichard Hill. Serious dark fruit and tannins greet you at entry but subside with considerable ox. Shared amongst friends this bottle didn't last very long but left an impression. I pick up two bottles at allocation and wish I had more than that to follow as this should age gracefully.
Randomly enough a fellow CT'er TXRDW pulled this exactly bottle on the same night and we only found this out after a text. No such thing as a coincidence?

August 28, 2022 - Needed about an hour in the decanter to open up and when it did, it was awesome. Classic Melanson Vineyard flavor profile. Many layers of flavor. Good balance. A dusty minerality complimented the awesome body and mouthfeel (sooo 2016). Unfortunately started to shut down at about 4 hours. Glad I have another bottle to enjoy in a few years.

April 9, 2022 - Purple fruit - blackberry, currants, and some dark cherry. Really smooth with a beautiful purity and solid depth/concentration - medium plus body. Nice vibrant flavors of dark berries, some spice, a little cocoa, and a mineral component. Fairly long finish. Decanted for three hours and drank over a couple more. Improved with time and showed its best towards the end of the session after around five hours. One of the best wines that I’ve had lately - like the Corra Tietjen cab, no surprise that this wine sells-out so fast at the Winery. 100% cab.

July 3, 2021 - Drank alongside a 2014 Shafer HSS and a 1999 Vieux Certan. The Cora Melanson was most definitely the WOTN. Very, very smooth tannins, lingering finish and amazingly pure fruit. I see this wine continuing to improve over the next several years
