February 20, 2024 - Sweet. palate is dominated by over-ripe fruit, maybe plum. Day 2 is better with some savory syrah flavor to balance the sweetness.

February 17, 2024 - Really lovely syrah, with meaty, herbal, and black fruit notes, definitely emphasizing the savory character of the varietal. This has been my least favorite Carlisle syrah in their lineup, which has always somewhat surprised me because of the fame of the vineyard, but this one makes me rethink things. Maybe it just needs all this time before drinking. Definitely open for business now.

March 10, 2023 - Dark red at core, fading to the edges. Dark plums on the nose. Soft on the palate, blackberries, bit of roasted meat. Fine tannins, nice acidity and balance. Finishes long with spice and red fruits. Becomes pleasanter with more pronounced red fruit with air. Nice, not great, I expected more. Drink over the next 5 to 6 years.

March 10, 2023 - This is an excellent wine with lots of dark fruit and spicy accents. Decanted and let rest for about 30-60 minutes. Excellent mouthfeel, purity, and aftertaste. Three days later and the wine was still excellent with even more flavor and texture and complexity. The James Berry vineyard Syrah never seems to disappoint.
