April 2, 2023 - Very few detailed notes after a night of outstanding wines but I can tell you that more than once, we discussed this wine being spectacular. 60-90 minutes in a decanter would be helpful. Bold and mouth staining. Incredible depth.

February 10, 2023 - We blind tasted this against the La Jota 2016 Howell Mountain cab. Same wine maker, same AVA. A chasm of difference. Decanted for 3 hours. Mind blowing quality. Very complex. Deep black fruits, floral, dried herbs...an endless finish. This will age for decades and get better. Nape mountain cab gets no better. PS. Very much enjoyed the La Jota. Life and wine are good!

May 1, 2021 - Napa - Lokoya - Vice Versa - Memento Mori: BIG! This needs time but it was still good to taste young to see where it is at. Dark chocolate, some forest floor and dark cherries filled the nose and palate. Quite tannic at this stage, but it was not punch you in the face tannic. I had a bottle from another Howell mountain winery a few months ago and that was not approachable for me. This was #4 of 4, but can easily see this jumping the line in 5-15 years. This is a wine I would put down for maybe 10 years or more and would reward the patient person. 94 today but there is huge upside in this wine. I wished I could visit this in 24 hours to see how it is and I bet the score would change a good amount.

April 3, 2021 - Deep cherry with a lot of structure. I’m thinking this will be fantastic in another 6-8 years although drinking well now
