Community Tasting Notes 2

October 15, 2019 - Decanted for about an hour. Rather closed on the nose but I do get hints of Cherries, on the palate there is black cherries and a hint of sweetness. This is a smooth drinking wine with low acidity and tannins, but it paired perfectly with pasta, meatballs, sausage and sauce. While I wouldn't call this wine complex, it is an everyday drinker, and that makes this wine perfect.

I've been slacking doing my reviews - my apologies, David and Angels.

I opened and consumed this wine in early October, finishing it perhaps a week later. My choice first evening was a bit last minute, so it got about 30 minutes of air and several dump-dumps.

First pairing with a lamb-burger. This vintage seems (sadly) harsher and drier than the 2016 - less fruitiness. I'm happy to say that I have a second bottle, which will hang out in my cellar for several months.

Next pairing was ham, sweet potato, and greenie beanies. Sipping alone, before dinner, there was considerable spiciness on the roof of my mouth and moderate tannins. With dinner, some lemon and some alcohol heat. Became softer as it breathed more.

Last glass accompanied steak and grilled asparagus. Alone, prior to dinner, some heat with underlying fruit. With the steak, minimal heat, more fruit, quite tasty. With asparagus, even less heat.

Thank you for making this red blend again for us, David. I'm hoping as it ages for a few months, it will become more like its older brother. But I realize that even if you tried to duplicate, nature makes it impossible!
