October 16, 2023 - Solid aged Nebbiolo, nice red dusty fruit and delicate tannins. Good length

October 7, 2023 - This is past due, I think. The '96 is preferred.

April 30, 2023 - Decant for sediment then straight to glass. Medium tawny color with obvious bricking and a wide tan rim. Aromas of mushroom, tar, damp earth, and plum. Palate of stewed plums, damp earth, and tar with fully resolved almost non-existent tannins. A low acidity clears to a medium plum and damp earth finish. Over-the-hill but not quite dead. I was concerned with some of the latest notes, so I paired it with ricotta cavatelli with a liver, pancetta, and porcini ragu and it crushed that pairing.

April 23, 2023 - I have had a couple of these now. While this is certainly better than what the average wine drinker will consume in their lives, I was expecting more from an exalted bottle of 30 years. Had the familiar nebbiolo palate but subdued in a way and didn't finish with much intensity or panache. While I will gladly have this any night of the week, it was not the special occasion I had anticipated. Lower my expectations next time? Perhaps.

April 7, 2023 - On the pop, liquored cherries, nubuck leather, iron. With time the cherry lingers less and then more leather and underbrush notes. Nice, polished, totally resolved as far as tannin. Moderate length and finish. Still a bit of sweetness, oddly reminiscent of Swedish fish, on the finish makes this one still quite nice even if it’s a touch past prime. Drink em if you got em
