January 2, 2022 - At restaurant Grand‘ Italia, Maspalomas, Gran Canaria. 12.5% ABV. Bright medium yellow. Ripe yellow fruit, ripe grapefruit, ripe lemon, herbal notes, nuts, almond, and some smoke, with medium-level acidity and good persistence. Lightly creamy texture. Becomes more and more herbal and develops a pleasant bitterness as it breathes. Very food-friendly. Best at 12-14 degrees. Good value. Recommended.

    September 19, 2020 - Single blind tasting.
    Straw color
Aromatics medium+. Yellow flowers, lemon and browned banana/yeast. The latter eventually fades and the empty glass nose becomes intensely green herbal.
Palate medium+. Acid nearing high with mild phenolic bitterness and medium alcohol. Ripe lemon, creamy mouth feel with secondary green apple.
Finish is balanced with medium length.
Interesting blend. Not quite the phenolics I would have expected from an Albarino, but the addition of Caino appears to give the creamy mouth feel and perhaps the Loureiro the floral notes.
Ready to drink now. Certainly has the acid to age, could become more interesting given the herbal notes as above only noted later in the glass.

September 18, 2020 - Light/ medium gold with green tint
Medium plus aromas of white flowers/ green apple and pear/ orange peel with hints of dry rock minerality
Palate of medium plus intensity - ripe green and yellow apple/ Meyer lemon/ green herbs and honeysuckle - mouthfeel is quite creamy so Im thinking some lees contact here
Medium plus acidity and mild phenolics with medium length
Really well balanced wine on the nose and in the mouth
Had this blind and didnt come near guessing an Albarino - neither the aromatics nor the phenolics to put this there - Its 30% Caino Blanco and Loureiro so Im guessing thats the reason
Can drink now but I think this may gain interest in 2-3 yrs

August 2, 2020 - A very enjoyable Albarino indeed. One of the dangers of any style of wines becoming popular, is the tendency to dumb down the style to cater for the popular demand, maintaining a common level. I'm glad to say that this wine does not fit into that category, it's an excellent example of the grape, blended as it is, 70% albariño, 15% caiño , and 15% Loureiro.

On pour, a delightful deep straw yellow appearance abounds in the glass. The nose has what you expect, with lemon citrus, hints of apple, and slight floral notes. The first thing that grabs you as you take the first sip is the tangyness of the acidity, mouthwatering delights, before mellowing into the flavours of the tropics, with mango, peach, that zesty green apple, and of course, the citrus of lemon and grapefruit. An almost cream like texture adds to the overall enjoyment of the combinations of flavours.

The finish to this perfect glass lingers long after the swallow, and left on the palate is that hint of salinity, not powerful, but there, and reminding you that the Ocean is not far from the birthplace of the wine.

All in all, an excellent example of the quality coming from Galicia, and one to look out for. It should be widely available, as Emilio Rodriguez and his team created just short of a million bottles in 2018, seek it and you won't be disappointed.

April 7, 2020 - sharp, acidic nose with some floral hints.

a crisp wine with lemon, sour apple (perhaps granny smith) and a biting finish that exits cleanly with a final breath of lemongrass.
