March 22, 2024 - Complex, with red and dark fruit in the nose and silky, balance tannins. Burgundy by way of the Sonoma Coast.

February 18, 2023 - Deep, complex, intense aroma with notes of red cherry, red berries, cola, oak, spice. The aroma is incredible and my favorite part of this wine.

Acidic pomegranate flavor. Notes of oak, earth and spice on the finish. The acid stands out, but there are also quite a lot of tannins present.

This wine is clearly built for the long haul and is barely entering the drinking window. This will cruise in the cellar for many years, and patience will be rewarded. Hold.

October 15, 2022 - This has barely moved since its 2019 release. It's still got the resinous, dark, brooding Coastlands character, quite a lot of tannin, rich potpourri perfume, and a lot of color density. The tannin needs quieting and the acid a little calming to settle this wine down into the zone that makes it routinely my favorite Williams Selyem wine. But I am confident that it will get there. The next morning, the dregs of the bottle were revelatory. If I can, I'll try not to touch it for 5 years. 13.3%, $85.

November 27, 2021 - Bright ruby color with slow legs. Baking spices, cherry cola and cedar on the nose. Black cherry, raspberry and cinnamon on the palate. Long satiny finish.

July 23, 2021 - Beautiful ruby red. This high acidity wine is a delight. Just a little fading to the rim indicative of a its age. Tart blueberry, black cherry, and Earl Grey tea with just a hint of flintiness on the nose. Palate confirms the nose with some pleasant savory tobacco notes emerging in the mid-palate through the finish. High acidity, medium-minus alcohol, medium body. Really long finish for a Pinot Noir. Much more pointed than a crowd-pleasing, rounded Pinot, but really well done. Slightly higher in acidity than the typical WS wine, but delightfully so. Perhaps an inelegant description, but a satisfying Pinot with California fruit and a Burgundian finish.
