December 19, 2022 - Still drinking great. Lighter flavors of peach, apricot, and apple with nice spice. Showed more delicate as expected vs the richer riper 1988 Yquem

November 12, 2021 - Getting the gang together @ Wus (plus birthdays!) (Wu's Wonton King): These old ZHs are always good and maybe even my style since the acid really balances the sweet. Tasting good!

March 13, 2015 - Bad bottle or just the wine is past its best. its 5 years since we had this before (and then rated 94) but today it felt just average and uninspiring. The nose of ripe fruit, smells sweet as a TN says below, but the wine has a bitter edge to it. Almost difficult and with no depth of vibrant side. Almost like its past its time. 87 at best

February 3, 2015 - Nose of dried apricots, roses, lychee, smoke, and some orange. Palate is rich and dense, lots of smoke. Layers of fruit, smoke, and Gewurz spice. Nice punch on the back end. A lovely, complicated wine.

November 24, 2014 - Smells sweet, very sauternes-like, and this is the flavour thought it's fairly dry on the finish. Nice but lacks zing.

September 25, 2010 - 1989 - The Year & The Vintage. Cross Border Horizontal LWE at the Papies, London 24 Sep 2010

Prefered it a lot more this time round vs a couple of months back. Rich, desnse but not overpowering. Good balance, nise nose. Dont jave much more notes. Most of us loved it and praised it non stop.

June 3, 2010 - The wines of Zind-Humbrecht 2007 -1989, with Richard Brazier (Handford Wines, London): Handford's "The wines of Zind-Humbrecht 2007 -1989" with Richard Brazier, London June 3rd 2010

Lemony to honey colour. Nice! Good sweetness, balanced wine with length. Rich and dense but in a nice way. Richard found it a bit one dimensional but overall we liked it.

Tasting these older Z-H wines vs good vintages (like 2000) clearly told us to stick to old. Younger wines are overdone on density and sweetness and lack complexity and finesse.

March 5, 2010 - Dinner at Steve & Barb's house. Dark gold in the glass and continuing to drink on the outstanding plateau this wine has been on for the past 5 years or so. Medium plus bodied and very Gewurz with white flowers and baking spices most prominent. Long on the finish. A pointe today but there's no cliff in site. 50+13+12+8.5+8.5 = 92
