November 26, 2022 - Light garnet. I want to avoid the volcanic vocabulary but there's fire and sulphur and molten rocks right in this glass! And smoke. Seriously. But it's Sumoll - an almost forgotten high acidity, aromatic, light-bodied variety native to Penedès in Catalonia, that in the right hands and soil makes fascinating wine. This has elegance, seriousness and depth in abundance. Held together tightly by blinding acidity, just enough for joyous contemplation of life's pleasures, both base and lofty, and a peppery, smoky finish. I have a strong suspicion this wine was nowhere near as deep in its immediate youth, suggesting that it ages in a really compelling way, after about half a decade. Truly superb and exciting.

Nice and expressive, fruity and vibrant. Very, very volcanic; like drinking ash. Then a bit natural funk, but not too much.
