January 23, 2024 - PnP that's much more complete, and thus more interesting, than upon release. Any notion of insufficient/less than ideal acidity when this was released, can be put to bed now - this has structure, freshness, and is beautifully perfumed and showing at a high level. Medium>medium+ body, very fine grained, sweet and present tannins, bright acidity, developing complexity and length. I was happy enough with this that I bought several at release, and now I'm even happier given its present offerings, but more so for the future that's portended. A joy. 14,5% abv.; now and the next decade. highly recommended.

    October 15, 2023 - A Coravin Glas.
Similar to the 2016, this is quite delicate with a beautifully perfumed bouquet of red fruit, some tea leaves, violets and rose hips.
The palate has velvety tannins, but a lot of those. Still young, it will probably peak in 2-4 years and be on top of its game for at least another decade.
Great effort for the maiden vintage of this Barolo.

November 29, 2022 - Lovely nebbiolo nose, floral, violet and fruity. Quite closed at the moment. Cherries, violet, leather and tobacco. Dry with ample tannins and high acidity. This will be a banger with time.

September 10, 2022 - We’re planning a visit here in November which of course means it was important to do so some ‘research’ in advance. Pulled for dinner at our favorite Italian place down in Jacksonville. The hype is completely justified. Just a wonderful wine. Tart cherry and floral and while it started a bit tight when the cork was first popped it really opened during the dinner. Truly lovely wine and one that I will seek out in the future.

September 8, 2020 - I pulled a 2015 in advance of hopefully trying the 2016 in the near term. The '15 Margherita Otto is a beautiful young wine, providing a lot of enjoyment already. I found the nose to be very floral and red fruit dominant, with roses, lighter red cherry and strawberry fruit, menthol, and licorice. On the palate, I found the wine to be a bit more savory, with red cherry fruit, tobacco, licorice, spices, and a salty/savory olive note at the back end. The wine is light to medium in body, and drinks with ease through the midpalate, with drying tannin appearing on the back end. It's a very strong first release, and a very enjoyable traditional Barolo.
